Jim Thorpe

Thorpe was regarded as one of the most versatile players. He played various sports specially track, baseball and football. In 1950, he was voted as half-century greatest athlete. He won Olympic gold medals in the 1912 decathlon and pentathlon and was inducted in both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Mickey Mantle

Mantle is arguably the most popular baseball player in history. He was inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.

Shannon Miller

Miller is a former gymnast from Oklahoma. She won five Olympic medals in 1992, i.e. two silver and three bonze. She again took Olympic medals in 1996, i.e. one gold as part of the winning US team, and another gold for the balance competition.

Johnny Bench

Bench was among Oklahoma's best athletes. He was a professional baseball player who was rated as greatest catcher. He was inducted in the 1989 National Baseball Hall of Fame. He was awarded Rookie of the Year in 1968, and twice chosen as league MVP (1972 and 1976).

Barry Sanders

Sanders was a former professional football player who became part of the Oklahoma State University (OSU) football team. He was awarded the coveted Heisman Trophy in 1988, and was voted Rookie of the Year in 1989. He was inducted in both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Carl Hubbell

Smith is a former American wrestler who won two Olympic gold medals (1988 and 1992), 6 world championships, and 2 NCAA championships for the OSU. He was the only American who was awarded the International Wrestler of the Year.

Nancy Lopez

Lopez is a golfer who played for the University of Tulsa. In 1977, she became a professional golfer and was inducted as a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Hall of Fame in 1987. Her achievements and awards include Rookie of the Year (1978), Player of the Year (4 years), and Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year (2 years).
